Both parents work demanding careers with schedules that regularly extend into evenings and weekends. Our home runs at a fast pace, and we take pride in keeping things organized, intentional, and running smoothly, even when life gets hectic. Our kids are bright, spirited, and full of energy. With school being 25 minutes from home, the logistics of after-school activities can be cumbersome, especially when we factor in trying to provide meaningful homework help and healthy on-the-go meals. We love to support their interests, and are hoping to continue building stable routines amidst the often chaotic schedules. We already have a house cleaner and landscapers in place, so this role isn't about starting from scratch. It's about adding a trusted, proactive person to our team who can hold things together, make good decisions, and help us stay a step ahead while modeling this behavior for our kids as well. We value efficiency, clear communication, and a calm sense of order in our home.Who You Are / What We're Looking ForYou are someone who walks in the door ready to get the job done. You don't wait to be told what needs doing. You see dishes in the sink, and you handle it. You notice the backpack isn't packed for practice, and you take care of it. You are an organized, efficient problem solver who takes real pride in doing things well. You have a natural ease with kids and aren't afraid to hold the line. You bring a calm, teacher-like presence. The kids in this home are smart and persistent, and they thrive with someone who is warm but firm. Homework gets done before screens. Chores get followed through. Intentional meals are planned in advance and ready before hunger turns into a behavioral issue. You're not overly chatty, especially when a parent is working from home, but you are purposeful in building lasting relationships and are looking for a long-term role with a family. You ask good questions when you're getting started, and over time, you need fewer of them. You are self-directed, high in common sense, and genuinely helpful to a family that already has a lot going on. Experience driving children and a clean driving record are essential.Key ResponsibilitiesFamily SupportSchool and activity pickups and drop-offs, Monday through ThursdayAfter-school supervision and routine management, including homework time, meals, and chore follow-throughPack and prep gear for afternoon activities, including making sure sports uniforms are clean and readyLight direction and engagement for the younger child, with a goal of fostering independence over timeOptional monthly date night coverage in addition to regular hours will be availableMeal SupportPlan and prepare after-school snacks and full dinner-level meals for the kids Monday through Thursday, with an emphasis on warm, well-balanced food that can be taken on-the-goKitchen cleanup and maintenance, including the mudroom drop zoneGrocery shopping on an as-requested basis (not primary responsibility)Laundry & LinensWash, fold, and put away laundry for the full householdIron, steam, and stain items as needed, including sports uniformsRotate and refresh bedding and towelsMaintain a tidy, well-stocked laundry areaHousehold Organization & MaintenanceReset and tidy home daily, including: dishes, clutter pickup, wiping surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas, taking out trash, etc.Create and maintain household organization systems with an eye toward long-term function and flexibilityManage seasonal swaps for clothing, bedding, and décorCoordinate donation drop-offsAssist with packing and unpacking for family travel, including spring break and lake house tripsCare for indoor plants (two)Create and manage a tracking system for proactive home maintenance items such as replacing batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectorsManage organizational projects throughout the home: closets, basement, garage, etc.Inventory & ErrandsRestock pantry, fridge, and household suppliesManage shared household supply lists and bulk ordering/subscriptions (paper goods, household essentials)Break down boxes for recyclingOccasional returns or other light errands as requestedVendor & Property OversightServe as the on-site point of contact for the house cleaner and landscapersCoordinate routine home maintenance scheduling (HVAC, furnace, etc.) and serving as on-site contact as neededCreate and maintain a seasonal property maintenance calendarSeasonal resets of outdoor spaces, including cleaning and setting up patio area once per spring and breaking down at the end of the warm seasonClean screened-in porch (dust, wipe) once per month during the warm seasonOne to two annual walk-throughs of the lake house property (spring and end-of-season – lake house is 3 hours away) is possible but may not be requiredPet CareOccasional dog feeding, walking, or transportation to and from doggy daycare as neededMaintain pet food and supply inventoryAdministrative SupportManage the family calendar for school, sports, and activitiesOccasional appointment scheduling supportTrack budget and receipts for on-the-job expensesHow to ApplyPlease submit:A short intro letterAn updated resume3 professional references with contact information. This role requires a background check. When you apply with Sage Haus, you'll also be added to our candidate community email list so we can share hiring updates, resources, and opportunities.
