Description
Performs field work related to parks maintenance, recreational activities and special events.
Examples of Duties
The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competence and satisfactory performance of these duties. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assists field crews with maintenance and repairs of parks, including landscaping, equipment repairs, athletic facilities, turf management issues, and addresses safety issues.
Operates hand tools, weed eaters, mowers, and other various equipment types used for division.
Maintains all equipment, vehicles, tools, etc. in proper, safe, and clean working order.
Maintains and repairs picnic tables, fences, benches, trash cans, walkways, playground equipment and other park items.
Performs the job in a safe manner and in compliance with policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee handbook.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of uses and purposes of general construction tools and equipment
Knowledge and skill in the use of hand tools, machines and other similar equipment used for divisional purposes.
Ability to learn a variety of construction and maintenance processes and equipment.
Ability to perform heavy physical labor.
Ability to understand & follow simple oral and/or written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Must have high school diploma/GED
Must have valid driver's license
Must have driving record sufficient for coverage by City's auto liability carrier
