Job description
Special Education Inclusionary Paraprofessional
Special education programs are designed to assist children with special needs reach high academic standards. Properly trained paraprofessionals can play important roles in improving student achievement by reinforcing and augmenting a teacher's effort in the classroom.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with assigned students to provide necessary support (which includes but are not limited to toileting, lifting, and assisting with self-care)
Collaborate with the classroom teacher and special education staff regarding interventions necessary for individual student success throughout the school day (inside and outside)
Meet and consult with the special education staff regularly; implement and monitor behavioral management strategies
Responsible for required student documentation, including but not limited to behavior plans, ABC logs, scatter plot data charting, and health documentation
Physical care and support inside and outside that includes but not limited to walking, sitting, standing, bending, lifting)
Greet students and reinforce behavioral expectations.
Physical restraint to keep students out of harm's way and the students around them.
Report and handle discipline problems in accordance with administrative regulations, school board policies and legal requirements.
