Title: Co-Founder, Partner (Energy Law)
Location: New York (preferred) / Flexible
Reports To: CEO
SUMMARY
Talisman Advisory Partners has been retained by a venture-backed platform to identify a Founding Legal Partner for a new, AI-native energy law firm being built from first principles.
The firm is being designed to meet the scale and complexity of the modern energy transition, combining deep legal expertise with purpose-built technology. This is a rare opportunity to join at inception, with meaningful equity ownership and the ability to shape the direction of the business from day one.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Founding Legal Partner will serve as the firm's legal lead and primary external representative, responsible for building and scaling the practice while delivering high-quality advisory work to clients across the energy and infrastructure ecosystem.
This individual will work closely with the founding team and engineers to develop AI-enabled workflows, redefine how legal services are delivered, and establish the firm as a leading advisor in the energy transition.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Practice Leadership & Client Delivery
Lead client engagements across renewable energy and infrastructure transactions
Serve as the firm's primary point of contact for clients and external stakeholders
Deliver high-quality legal advice across development, financing, and project execution
Firm Building & Strategy
Define the firm's legal offering, positioning, and go-to-market strategy
Build and scale the legal practice, including hiring and mentoring talent
Drive long-term strategic direction alongside the founding team
Technology & Innovation
Partner with engineering teams to design and refine AI-driven legal workflows
Provide hands-on feedback to shape internal tools and systems
Help reimagine how legal work is scoped, delivered, and priced
Business Development & Market Presence
Leverage existing relationships to originate new client opportunities
Establish the firm as a trusted advisor within the energy and infrastructure ecosystem
Represent the firm in the market through client engagement and industry visibility
QUALIFICATIONS
5 years of experience at a leading energy, project finance, or infrastructure law firm or equivalent in-house experience.
Deep expertise in renewable energy, project development, and/or project finance transactions
Strong client-facing skills with a track record of leading transactions and managing relationships
Demonstrated interest in technology and the application of AI within legal services
Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to build and scale a new platform
