Job description
Job TitleResponsibilities/Duties:Performs admission functions for all patients.Responsible for admissions and outpatient procedures and verifying insurance eligibility.Responsible for interviewing patients or their representative, where admission is unscheduled, for personal information or verifying information already on file, including emergency numbers and insurance information.Responsible for obtaining signatures on general consent.Provides information to the patient/representative about billing, complaint process, patient rights, HIPPA and visiting hours. Distributes organization literature.Responsible for collection of payments, recording, and forwarding to Patient Financial Services.Refers patient to the Patient Financial Counselor when financial arrangements need to be made.Answers the phone and communicates information to the appropriate person.Maintains supplies in a neat and orderly environment.Supports the orientation and onboarding of new employees.Other duties as assigned.Specific to the Clinic Setting:Schedules appointments and handles all referrals.Monitor providers schedules.Addresses any pre-appointment communications.Specific to the Hospital Setting:Handles all overhead paging.Education/Experience:High school graduate or equivalent preferredSome administrative/clerical experience preferredProfessional Skills & Expectations:Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writingMaintains regulatory requirementsWears identification while on duty; uses computerized time system correctlyActively participates in the department's performance improvement activities, as requestedRepresents the organization in a positive and professional mannerComplies with all organizations policiesExcellent interpersonal and customer service skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environmentTeamwork and collaborationProfessionalism and strong work ethicPhysical Requirements & Demands:Ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.Ability to move about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.Able to constantly communicate with others to exchange information.Ability to constantly assess the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly.Occasionally light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.Occasionally requires repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.Environmental Conditions:Occasionally encounter noisy environments.Management reserves the right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job.
