Patient Access Representative IILocation: 3020 Children’s Way, San Diego, CA 92123 Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift – 5x8 Hours (18:00 – 02:30) Schedule: Weekends IncludedJob SummaryThe Patient Access Representative II is responsible for securing and providing accurate information to patients, families, and funding sources. This includes registration, scheduling, and obtaining authorizations for inpatient, outpatient, and diagnostic services.The role requires strong customer service skills, the ability to build rapport with diverse populations, and proficiency in administrative and data entry tasks.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform patient registration, scheduling, and insurance verificationObtain authorizations for services as requiredEnsure accurate data entry and documentationCommunicate effectively with patients, families, and internal teamsMaintain productivity and accuracy standardsUtilize systems such as Epic and other healthcare platformsRequirementsExperience in a fast-paced hospital or ER setting (preferred)Minimum: 2 years of healthcare experience, OR1 year of experience in a specific department or call center environmentKnowledge of: Managed care health plansScheduling, registration, billing, and claims processesInsurance verification, eligibility, and authorization requirementsBasic knowledge of medical terminology OR at least 6 months of healthcare experienceProficiency with computers and data entryFamiliarity with Epic (preferred)High School Diploma, GED, or equivalentAdditional ExpectationsAbility to work in a high-volume Emergency Department environmentFlexibility with scheduling and minimal requested time off (RTO)Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
