Job Title
Contract guarantee hours= 72 hours biweekly on all assignments – these guaranteed hours do not include any "on-call" time worked. Comments and notes: BILH coversheet required at time of submission. Two 8s and two 12s – night shift with every other weekend requirement. 373 bed hospital. Unit is tele/PCU. 28 total beds on J4. Community hospital. Required: Travel assignment, epic, BLS-AHA, 2+ years experience. Patient ratio: 4:1. Epic EMR, medication dispensing is Pyxis. Could float to Addison Gilbert or other units as needed. Self scheduling. Every other weekend required. Holiday requirement is every other weekend. Patient population (diagnoses): Tele. Arrhythmogenic electrolyte imbalance b. Cardiac contusion c. Heart failure associated with ischemic changes or arrhythmia d. Drug toxicities with potential for arrhythmias e. New onset supraventricular arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia f. Unstable angina g. Observation of patients during initiation of anti-arrhythmic therapy h. Patients with primary arrhythmias requiring observation or treatment with intravenous or oral anti-arrhythmic agents j. Stable CVA / TIA patients with rule out arrhythmias. Appropriate telemetry orders must accompany patient. k. Observations post pacemaker / ICD insertion or post electrophysiology cardiac ablation. Special equipment on unit: Lifts (Hoyer, Sara Stead), EKG, glucometers. Medication guidelines 1. The following IV medications, but not limited to, may be administered on PCU (refer to NHC IV Drug Reference Guide) Adenosine Amiodarone Diltiazem Dobutamine Nitroglycerin 2. Patients receiving continuous IV infusions of acceptable medications are recommended to attempt to have a second peripheral line placed. Admission exclusion criteria 1. Patients in intensive care units in other hospitals may NOT be accepted directly to the PCU at Beverly Hospital/Addison Gilbert unless the following are met a. Patients must be stable, and a minimum of 24 hours out from time of infarction b. Patients must be off vasoactive drugs for a minimum of 12 hours. Discontinuation of progressive care unit criteria 1. Consider discharge from telemetry/PCU for stable patients in collaboration with physician. Locals accepted at a decreased rate. Must be separated from BILH for 6+ months, and in good standing, to be considered (travel, perm, per diem).
