Description
Job Responsibilities
* * Understands and adheres to the Patient Bill of Rights and Vulnerable Adult Act.
* Provide appropriate personal care for patients assigned.
* Help maintain a clean/safe environment for the patient.
* Use correct medical asepsis hand washing.
* Handle supplies and equipment with proper technique.
* Cleanse and sanitize units and utensils according to procedures.
* Keep current on policies and procedures changes relevant to PCA position.
* Attend unit meetings as appropriate.
* Assist nursing with pre and post care of surgical patient.
* Answer phone.
* Assist with transporting of patients.
* Outpatient infusion.
* Clean instruments and equipment accordingly.
Prevent Hazards of Immobility
* * Use heel and elbow protectors when needed for patients.
Provide for Patient Protection
* * Use side rails as instructed by charge nurse.
* Adjust the bed height for patient safety.
* Recognize and remove environmental dangers.
* Provide easy access to the call light.
* Answer call light promptly.
* Knowledge of fire and disaster plan and participate in drills.
* Use proper lifting equipment on all patients who require this assistance.
