This unit is a great place to learn and strengthen nursing skills, such as IVs, NGTs, cardiac drips and stroke care and prepares you for a higher level of care, such as the ICU, CCU or ED. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) on the team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients. Here, you will also have an excellent opportunity to start your nursing career and work in a supportive and caring healthcare setting.A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM, including rotating weekends and holidays.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it during your new hire periodNursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to hireMilitary experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be consideredPreferred QualificationsState Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school programPhysical RequirementsRequires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.Personal Protective EquipmentFollows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.The policy of Cleveland Clinic Health System and its system hospitals (Cleveland Clinic Health System) is to provide equal opportunity to all of our caregivers and applicants for employment in our drug free environment.
