nJob Description:

nThe Patient Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Additionally, the Patient Care Technician may assume the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator.

nThis position requires a current Colorado CNA license and at least one year of CNA experience as this position will provide five (5) orientation shifts to assist you to learn each of the units you will float to.

nNight shift 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. You will be required to work rotating holidays and weekends based on the needs of the department.

nThis is a float position which will required to float to all units and an additional 10% differential is provided.

nThis is a float position which will required to float to the following units:

nCurrently float to regularly: ED, ICU, Tele, MS, OBS, Sitter

nAt times they float to: PACU, PSCU, and Women's

nEssential Functions

nnnPrioritize and deliver basic patient care, including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, fresh water and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs, while providing excellent customer service when responding to patient and family requests.

nnReports and records patient care findings and data in a timely manner. Reports changes in the patient condition quickly and secures qualified assistance as needed.

n

nnMay perform telemetry duties as required based on the unit, and function as a patient care attendant by monitoring patients, addressing patient care needs, and collaborating with other members of the patient care team as required.

n

nnTransport medications from the delivery system to the RN as required when working on a clinical unit.

n

nnCollaborate and consult with the RN and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.

n

nnMay assume the responsibilities of a health unit coordinator, including answering phones, transcribing physician orders, managing unit records, organizing, stocking, and maintaining unit supplies.

nnImplements plan of care as delegated.

n

nnPerforms assigned duties within Scope of Practice. Performs specialized procedures with skill validation and according to regulatory standards.

nnFosters a safe environment by complying with the safety policy and taking appropriate action in an emergency.

n nMinimum Qualifications

nnnCurrent Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in the state of Colorado

n

nnBasic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

n

nnDemonstrated basic computer literacy skills.

n

nnExcellent written and verbal communication skills.

n

n nPreferred Qualifications

nnnPrior CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.

n

nnCurrent enrollment in nursing school program.

n

n nPhysical Requirements

nnnOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

n

nnFrequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

n

nnManual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

n

nnExpected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

n

nnNeed to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)

n

nnMay be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

n

nnFor roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

nThe hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
