Vaughan Regional Medical Center Patient Care Technician IJoin Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, AL, a 175-bed, Joint Commission–accredited community hospital that serves as a critical healthcare hub in the region. Vaughan delivers a full complement of hospital services, including emergency care, to the Black Belt area of southern Alabama. As part of ScionHealth, Vaughan combines system strength with strong local impact so that you can make your mark where your work truly matters.Under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, the Patient Care Technician I (PCT I) provides basic, supportive patient care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards. Duties include assistance with daily living activities, vital signs collection, documentation, and safe transport, helping to ensure a safe and compassionate environment for patients.Essential FunctionsProvide personal care assistance including bathing, grooming, and hygieneTake and record vital signs and patient measurementsAssist with nutrition and feeding tasksPerform Point of Care Testing (e.g., Accu-Checks)Support safe ambulation, turning, positioning, and transportReport changes in patient condition to licensed staffDocument intake/output and care activitiesAnswer call lights promptly and professionallyParticipate in purposeful rounding and team communicationSupport admissions, discharges, and general comfort needsKnowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsMust read, write and speak fluent English.Must have good and regular attendance.Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.Basic computer knowledge.Able to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities and function under stressful situations.Ability to maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role (preferred)Licenses/CertificationsBasic Life Support (BLS) preferred or required within time frame specified in facility policy.ExperienceHealthcare experience preferred.
