Job description

Patient Sitter Texas Children's HospitalWe are searching for a Patient Sitter Texas Children's Hospital for our West Campus Float Pool - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting to ensure the safety of patients at risk of harm to self or others, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Care will be delivered that incorporates Family Centered Care in a cost-effective manner and is developmental and age appropriate for the patient population.Will float to EC, Acute Care, and Critical Care.Think you've got what it takes?Shifts available:Days 7a-3p (part time)Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDKnowledge of basic nursing careAbility to respond quickly to requests and interact with people at all levelsPreferred Qualifications:1 yr. experience in a psychiatric inpatient or outpatient program, Psychiatric Residential placement programsInpatient hospital experience or enrolled in an accredited Nursing education programBLS – Basic Life Support from American Heart AssociationCNA- Certified Nurse AssistantAs part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standardsResponsibilities :Sitters are responsible for remaining with the assigned patient at all times during their assigned shiftAssists the R.N. to provide an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors and employeesAssists in identifying patient response to care provided and reports patient condition to the RN to assure achievement of desired outcomesDemonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge, demonstrate new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performanceAttends mandatory training and development activities and meets institutional and departmental health and safety requirements by established deadlinesRemains current in unit/hospital information and job expectations and training
