nJob Summary
nThe Patient Observer attends to and consoles patients during their stay at Baylor. They may help with oral and personal hygiene, dressing, undressing, and changing bed linens. They perform non-complex patient care activities and tasks, including light housekeeping, as delegated by a nurse or physician.
nEssential Functions of the Role
nnnFollows nurse and physician instructions and attends to assigned patients at all times
n
nnHelps patients with limited mobility or stamina dress and undress. Prepares patients for meals by positioning tray tables and feeding.
n
nnPositions, raises, and helps patients walk or move as directed by a nurse or physician. Follows standard safety lifting procedures and calls for help when needed.
n
nnHelps patient with personal and oral hygiene including bathing, showering, shaving, dental care
n
nnHelps patients in using bedpans, urinals etc.
n
nnMaintains clean patient care environment by changing bed linens, disposing of refuse, removing soiled linen
n
nnPerforms light housekeeping duties in patient rooms as requested
n
n nKey Success Factors
nnThe immediate supervisor for the unit or work area has the "Unit Specific Position Competencies"

nQUALIFICATIONS
nnnEDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
n
nnEXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
n
n nCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
nnBasic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
