If that sounds like an organization you want to be a part of, we would love to have you.The Patient Services Medical Assistant (PSMA) works to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare by supporting the clinic with front and back-office tasks. This role will direct incoming calls to ensure they are transferred to the appropriate contact within the clinic and assist patients with scheduling and re-scheduling healthcare appointments.The scheduled work hours are Tuesday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (lunch 12 - 1 PM) and Saturday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (lunch 12 - 1 PM).ResponsibilitiesPatient Services Representative:Assesses incoming phone calls to determine the correct course of action based on customer's information and needsCorresponds with patients, salespeople, and visitors in an accurate, expeditious, courteous, and competent manner via in-person, telephone, and/or mailConducts appointment reminder calls to all patients; including noted documents required for their visitImpacts patient experience by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracyProvider and Team SupportGenerates daily lists of scheduled appointments for the clinicShares accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination with care teamsOperates to instill confidence in our care and facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholdersClinical AdministrationSchedules appointments and enter all required data into electronic schedulerTracks and records filled and cancelled appointmentsPrepares patient charts prior to their appointmentsVerifies patient appointments and arrival time at registrationReceives and records patient payments in computer and ledger for services receivedVerifies patient records are up to date and accurate; makes appropriate changes in computer system, as neededCompletes ongoing/annual training for position complianceMedical Assistant:Direct Patient CareCommunicates and performs clinical care services with patientsTakes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake informationDiscuses patient needs and provides education and resources to patients directlyEnsures exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and set up for examinations and proceduresProvider And Team SupportCoordinates provider workflows to ensure efficient patient careEnsures the provider has all pertinent information required for each patient visit including diagnostic images, labs, procedure tray set-ups, and required screeningsAssists other providers and care teams in Chiropractic, Acupuncture, and Podiatry medicine departments as neededClinical AdministrationUtilizes electronic health records to order, process, and document clinical treatment plans for patients as directed by the providerConveys information to patients via telephone or email under the direction of a provider or Registered NurseProvide patient with requested documents after review to ensure forms are complete, accurate, and executed by the providerCompletes ongoing/annual training for position complianceEducation/ExperienceHigh school diploma/GED requiredValid Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited program requiredCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment. These courses must follow AHA guidelines, but may be completed through approved online providers such as ProMed or other equivalent programs that meet recognized BLS standards.One year customer service experience required; in a healthcare setting preferredExperience working with electronic medical records and multi-phone lines preferredBilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferredAdditional Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skillsAbility to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formKnowledgeable about and experience with customer service etiquette and protocolsAbility to interact effectively with clinic personnel, patients, and diverse populationsAbility to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyExcellent planning and organizational abilityAbility to use computer programs, such as spreadsheets and databasesAbility to work as part of a team as well as independentlyAbility to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical mannerPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift/carry 20 lbs/weightAbility to stand for long periods of timePay Range: $24.95 - $34.93 per hour, depending on experienceCompensation Disclosure: The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate's overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs.
