Job description
UPMC Presbyterian is hiring full-time Cardiac Transporters to help support the day-to-day operations of the Transportation Services Department located in Oakland, PA. The days and shifts for these positions will vary.
nThe Transporters will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting patients and equipment to and from nursing units and other departments throughout the hospital in accordance with established policies and procedures. In this fast-paced position, you will be walking approximately seven miles a day while interacting with patients and contributing to their quality of care.
nResponsibilities
nnnTransport patients, equipment, supplies, specimens, and morgue patients via prescribed vehicles between the patient units, treatment centers, and other designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.

nnSafely transfer patients in and out of hospital beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs
n
nnSafely monitor patient heart rate, respiratory rate, and pulse ox during transport.
n
nnMaintain a positive attitude characterized by caring, concern, and support for patients, visitors, medical staff, and coworkers.

nnnMust be able to rotate shifts that provide 24-hour/day, seven days per week coverage.
n
nnAbility to accurately follow departmental procedures.
n
nnAbility to exercise good judgment in the prioritization of work.
n
nnEffective organization and communication skills.
n
nnMay in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients; transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.
n
n nLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
nnnCPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
n
nnBasic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
