Asphalt Roller OperatorRogers Group, headquartered in Nashville, TN is a 115-year-old privately held aggregates and asphalt highway construction company with quarry and asphalt construction operations in 13 states with 3,500 employees. The company has the distinction of being recognized as the largest privately held crushed stone producer in the United States.Rogers Group is seeking an individual for the position of Asphalt Roller Operator for our Virginia SMA Construction Division, based out of Staunton, VA. The successful candidate for this role will have previous experience operating an asphalt roller or similar heavy equipment, and an uncompromising focus on safety excellence.Job Details:Wages starting at $21.00/hr. for entry level candidates. Some positions require no experience and Rogers Group will train.Inspect, clean, maintain and make minor equipment repairs or report malfunctions to Supervisor/Foreman.Monitor asphalt temperatures and vibration usage for proper breakdown and finish rolling of asphalt.Observe distribution of paving material to adjust machine settings or material flow and indicate low spots for workers to add material.Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety program and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.Participate as a vital team member and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required.Other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor/Foreman.Qualifications:Uncompromising focus on safety excellence.Previous experience operating an asphalt roller or similar heavy equipment preferred.Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.Must be able to regularly lift and/or move heavy objects.Ability to work outdoors which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.Flexibility to work varied shifts, to include nights, weekends, and overtime.Excellent communication and time management skills.CDL license preferred, but not required.Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.Rogers Group provides extensive benefits, strong compensation, and a safe, drug-free working environment.As a Rogers Group employee, you will have access to our competitive company perks, including:Group insurance options plus Health Savings Account with annual company contribution.Company paid life insurance, disability insurance, and more.Retirement 401K account with company contribution and match.Paid Holiday Shutdown period between Christmas and New Years in addition to 7 holidays throughout the year.Paid vacation available after 180-day probationary period.Annual performance-based merit increases.An Equal Opportunity Employer seeking candidates without regard to age, race, national origin, gender, disability, veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other protected status.
