Job description
Paving Screed Operator/LaborerA screed operator is responsible for the smooth ride asphalt pavement is known for. Operating the free-floating screed, these operators level the hot asphalt to the right thickness and evenness to produce the best roads.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for operating the screed from a standing position on a platform attached to the paver or walking alongsideUses the screed to lay asphalt material to project specifications including but not limited to depth, width, and grade. When not operating the screed, the operator performs laborer dutiesMust be able to detect and correct defects in surfaces, seams and edgesResponsible for having a thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt pavingMust perform general laborer duties as assigned.QualificationsPerforming physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materialsAble to lift 50 pounds.
