Job TitlePerforms complex and technical accounting, payroll, and clerical functions in the preparation and processing of payroll, personnel documents, and benefits.Minimum QualificationsAssociate's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources, or other closely related field, plus two (2) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.Essential FunctionsThe following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive. Provides quality customer service by answering any questions regarding timesheets and leavePerforms automated timecard payroll functions. Assures all time is approved for biweekly payroll processing and verifies all personnel actions have been completed prior to payrollMay collaborate with division HR Coordinator and Mayor's Finance to resolvePerforms timesheet auditing to ensure accuracy and reviews reports to track worked hours of employees.Prepares, processes, and reconciles employee mileage.Distributes paper checks.Performs separated employees' final payrollProvides data for internal and externalServes as backup for the HR Coordinator when needed.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)Knowledge of:Generally accepted payroll practices and protocolsGeneral accounting and spreadsheet programs and practicesStandard business methods and proceduresGRAMA regulations and procedures concerning employee recordsSkills and Abilities to:Apply general accounting and payroll principles and standards to specific situationsUse computers, software, and job-related office equipmentPrioritize tasks to accurately complete them in a timely manner even under stressful situations and deadlinesPerform record audits and calculate correctionsCommunicate effectively both verbally and in writingInterpret and adapt guidelines for application to specific cases or problemsMaintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general publicMaintain confidentiality of personal informationPerform logical and systematic thinking to analyze and solve problemsMonitor leave issuesAdditional InformationWorking Conditions and Physical RequirementsPerform repetitive manipulative skills such as data entry for extended periods of time.
