A Brief Summary of This Position:
This individual contributor position is responsible for the payroll data entry, processing and reconciling of bi-weekly and weekly payroll. Duties include meeting deadlines with minimal errors, basic knowledge of various federal, state and local tax withholding regulations and wage garnishments. The incumbent answers basic employee/supervisor questions regarding company payroll related policies and procedures. Interfaces with employees and outside organizations to present a favorable service impression of the Payroll department. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required to maintain and enhance the department’s focus as a service department.
Essential Functions:
Perform weekly payroll processing for assigned business units/locations
Correct and analyze first and final payroll reports
Edits, codes and enters all payroll data for assigned locations
Provide timekeeping guidance to site managers/human resource representatives
Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds, although most frequent lift is under 10 pounds
This position reports to the Senior Manager Payroll and has no direct or indirect reports
Other Important Details about the Role:
Running payroll related reports
Distribution of payroll related reports to site contacts
Act as the initial payroll contact for assigned sites/locations
Act as backup to other department members
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years of work/educational experience or Associates Degree
Experience with use of proper discretion in handling of highly confidential information
Strong analytical skills
Strong data entry skills with high accuracy rates
Basic knowledge of Federal Wage and Hour Law
Understanding of federal and state tax regulations as related to employee pay checks
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
Previous experience using an integrated HR/Payroll processing package, such as ADP/Vantage and Workday
Multi-state and local tax payroll processing experience
Strong working knowledge in Microsoft Excel and demonstrated ability with other MS Office applications
Well organized and detail-oriented, able to work around interruptions
Excellent customer service skills and experience
