Job description
Payroll Specialist – Direct Hire, Full-Time Employee
Handles biweekly multi-state payroll with precision and confidentiality. Audits payroll data, processes adjustments, maintains accurate records, and prepares payroll reports. Provides backup support for salaried and Canadian payroll. Works within established procedures while meeting strict deadlines.
Responsibilities include processing end-to-end biweekly payroll for hourly employees, ensuring accurate taxes, deductions, benefits, and garnishments, maintaining and updating employee payroll data, performing pre- and post-payroll audits and reconciliations, serving as primary contact for payroll questions, producing payroll, labor distribution, attendance, and compliance reports, and supporting special projects and additional duties as assigned.
Required skills and experience include 5+ years payroll processing experience preferred, strong data entry, 10-key, and math skills, proficiency in Excel and business software, detail-oriented, organized, and able to meet deadlines independently, strong communication skills with a diverse workforce, strict commitment to confidentiality, and knowledge of payroll compliance, wage/hour rules, and payroll tax practices.
Preferred experience includes automated timekeeping systems, multi-union, multi-state payroll (250+ employees), Dayforce/Ceridian or DOS systems, garnishment administration and payroll reporting.
