Talent Group is partnering with a well-established food processing organization to identify their next Payroll Supervisor. This confidential search represents an opportunity to join a respected employer with a strong internal team, established systems, and payroll operations that are critical to the success of the business.
This position offers the opportunity to step into an important role previously held by a long-tenured employee, providing stability, support, and a structured transition process.
Position Overview
The Payroll Supervisor will oversee payroll operations for a year-round workforce of approximately 150 employees while supporting seasonal growth that expands the workforce to approximately 650 employees during peak production periods.
The position manages biweekly payroll throughout the year and transitions to supporting both weekly and biweekly payroll cycles during the seasonal production ramp-up. Success in this role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple payroll schedules in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Process and oversee payroll for hourly and salaried employees
Ensure compliance with California payroll regulations and labor laws
Maintain payroll classifications, pay codes, and earning structures
Administer holiday pay calculations and special pay rules
Review, reconcile, and resolve missed punch reports and timekeeping discrepancies
Prepare and maintain labor and payroll reporting
Process garnishments, wage assignments, and payroll deductions
Partner with department managers and timekeepers to ensure payroll accuracy
Support payroll onboarding activities for new hires and seasonal employees
Maintain confidentiality of payroll records and employee information
Assist with payroll audits, reporting requirements, and process improvements
Serve as a resource for employee payroll questions and issue resolution
Seasonal Operations
As a food manufacturing operation, the organization experiences a significant increase in workforce volume and payroll activity during peak production season.
The Payroll Supervisor plays a critical role during this period and is expected to support business operations throughout the annual peak season, typically occurring between July and early October. Planned time off during this timeframe may be limited based on business needs.
Outside of peak production periods, the position offers a predictable schedule and strong work-life balance.

Strong knowledge of California payroll regulations and labor law compliance
Experience processing high-volume hourly payroll

Bilingual Spanish proficiency
