nResponsibilities

nProvides routine care and management of hospitalized patients in the newborn nursery (level 1 and 2) at Methodist West and Trinity Fort Dodge, as well as inpatient pediatric coverage in both Des Moines and Trinity

nnnThis position is a 1.0 FTE, requiring a 1840 hours per year, with a rotating schedule that includes a mix of day and night shifts. Specific locations depend on operational needs

n

nnRecognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician, and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary

n

nnDocuments findings in accurate, systematic form and maintains appropriate documentation in the EMR

n

nnUtilizes data to identify areas of improvement, monitor progress, and design/implement initiatives which can make a positive impact on the care of newborn or inpatient pediatric patients

n

nnAccepts responsibility to maintain and developing own skill and knowledge in the clinical area of expertise - pediatrics and newborn care

n

nnProvides specialty specific patient-family teaching and counseling based on needs, and in collaboration with the care team

n

nnEffectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff, and members of the community from diverse backgrounds

n nQualifications

nnnPNP-AC

n

nnOne or more years of experience as a nurse in pediatrics preferred

n

nnCurrent Iowa License to practice as a Registered Nurse and as an ARNP

n

nnCertification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

n

nnNRP & PALS

n

nnValid driver's license

n
