Job description
Description As our Pediatric Schoolteacher, you will be provided the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for children and adolescents facing serious, often complex medical conditions. As part of the care team at UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital, you will deliver therapeutic, developmentally appropriate educational services to pediatric inpatients and outpatients-including patients receiving care in high-acuity hospital settings.
You will provide individualized instruction for elementary, middle, and high school-aged patients at the bedside, in the schoolroom, or in clinic. The work calls for compassion, adaptability, and sound professional judgment as you coordinate curriculum with each patient's home or primary school, or develop tailored learning plans based on developmental and educational assessments.
Working closely with medical providers, patients, and families, you will create engaging activities and instruction that sustain educational growth, foster normalcy, and support emotional well-being during a challenging time. This is a uniquely rewarding role for an educator who is energized by working in a dynamic hospital environment and is committed to helping critically ill children maintain connection, confidence, and progress throughout their care.
