Job description

The successful candidate will have completed a year of additional formal training in advanced heart failure, transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support, and must meet criteria to be recognized as a transplant physician by UNOS. Training and experience at an institution with a high performing congenital heart surgery and transplant program is strongly preferred.

The candidate is expected to be appointed in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology of the Department of Pediatrics. Participation in heart failure/ transplantation/ cardiomyopathy clinics will be expected as well. We currently have 2 nurse practitioners dedicated to the pediatric heart transplant team as well as 2 dedicated congenital heart surgeons who perform surgical procedures on congenital heart disease patients of all ages with some of the best risk-adjusted mortality rates in the country. UVA is the lead institution in the Virginia Congenital Cardiac Consortium, a three-institution collaborative that directs the highest complexity patients to the University of Virginia Children's Hospital.
