Job description
Support inpatient pharmacy operations in a dynamic hospital setting, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications. This per diem role based in Highland, CA offers a weekday day shift schedule with minimal on-call responsibilities during weekends and after hours.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Full-time hours)
On-call weekends and after hours (rarely called in)
Responsibilities: Verify and review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety
Compound sterile medications, including IV admixtures and unit dose medication (no chemotherapy or hazardous drugs)
Respond to emergency room codes as needed, supporting critical patient care situations
Ensure adherence to hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and sterile compounding standards
Monitor patients' medication therapy, providing clinical recommendations to physicians and nursing staff
Replenish Pyxis machines at two family health centers within the local community
Qualifications: Active and clear California Pharmacist License
Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience
Familiarity with clinical software systems such as CSPI, Evident, or Pyxis preferred (training available if needed)
Prior experience as the sole pharmacist in a clinical environment is advantageous
Willingness and ability to fulfill all on-call hour requirements
