Job description
Overview
Comprehensive Ophthalmologist is responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with glaucoma, a condition that damages the optic nerve and can lead to blindness if left untreated. The specialist will perform comprehensive eye exams, including measuring eye pressure, examining the optic nerve, and testing visual fields. They will also develop treatment plans, which may include medication, laser therapy, or surgery, and monitor patients' progress over time. The specialist will work closely with other eye care professionals, such as optometrists and ophthalmologists, to provide the best possible care for their patients.
Responsibilities
Diagnose and treat glaucoma
Perform comprehensive eye exams, including measuring eye pressure, examining the optic nerve, and testing visual fields
Develop and monitor treatment plans (medication, laser therapy, or surgery)
Collaborate with optometrists and ophthalmologists to provide comprehensive care
Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
Completion of an ophthalmology residency program
Valid medical license in the state of California
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well in a team environment
Skills
Expertise in diagnosing and treating glaucoma
Ability to perform comprehensive eye exams
Knowledge of the latest treatment options for glaucoma
Excellent surgical skills
