Job description
A healthcare facility is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented pharmacist to provide per diem support in North Hollywood, CA. This role involves ensuring the accuracy and safety of medication dispensing for skilled nursing facilities, personal care facilities, and hospice care settings. The assignment is for one month with the potential for extension, working approximately 24 hours per week.
Schedule:
24 hours per week
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM (Pharmacy hours)
Key Responsibilities: Reviewing medication orders entered by data entry technicians for accuracy and appropriateness
Verifying blister-packed medications as well as sterile and non-sterile drugs
Responding to phone inquiries from nursing facilities, hospice nurses, and physicians, providing clinical guidance as needed
Counting controlled substances and maintaining documentation in the perpetual inventory system
Inspecting emergency medication boxes to ensure they are properly stocked and ready for use
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy
Active pharmacist license in good standing with the state of Pennsylvania
At least 1 year of pharmacist experience; previous experience in long-term care (LTC) is preferred
Proficient with pharmacy management software such as QS1, Docutrack, and PCC
Ability to sit, stand, and use fine motor skills for extended periods, with visual acuity to check medication packaging carefully
Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds
