Job description
A per diem pharmacist position is available in Van Nuys, CA, offering an opportunity to provide expert pharmaceutical care for a range of healthcare facilities. This role involves working 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday, within pharmacy operating hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The assignment is initially set for one month with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities include verifying medication orders entered by data entry technicians for skilled nursing facilities, personal care facilities, and hospice patients. The pharmacist will also check blister-packed medications as well as sterile and non-sterile preparations. Handling incoming calls from nursing staff, hospice nurses, and physicians to answer clinical inquiries is an essential part of the job. Additional duties involve counting controlled substances and maintaining accurate perpetual inventory records, as well as checking emergency medication boxes.
Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in pharmacy and be a registered pharmacist licensed in the state of Pennsylvania with a clear standing. One or more years of pharmacist experience is required, with long-term care (LTC) experience preferred. The role requires the ability to sit, stand, and perform fine motor tasks with visual acuity, in addition to the ability to lift up to 30 pounds as part of daily functions. Familiarity with QS1, Docutrack, and PCC operating systems is also necessary.
