Job description
Overview
The safe and effective management of extra-corporeal support for the purpose of surgical repairs to the heart and great vessels under the supervision of the Chief Perfusionist.
Responsibilities
Prepares for Cardiopulmonary Bypass (CPB).
Functions as a competent member of the cardiac team.
Safely conducts CPB.
Maintains clinical competency.
Documents CPB, QC and test results for ACT among various other records.
Participates in equipment maintenance and materials management.
Fulfills required annual clinical and/or hospital related competencies
Supports Mechanical Circulatory devices, initiating and transporting from outside of the facility when necessary.
Independently participates in education and precepting perfusion students and new employee orientation.
Performs other duties as required that are within scope of practice and professional license.
Qualifications
Minimum Education Required: Graduate of an accredited perfusion program.
Minimum Experience Required: 2 Years of experience as a Perfusionist.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Required By Law: American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion certification and Georgia license required.
Additional Qualifications: BLS required. ACLS preferred.
