Job Details

This Hospital Pharmacist position is based in Lancaster, Ohio, a welcoming, historic community located approximately 30 miles southeast of Columbus. Lancaster offers the charm of a smaller city with the convenience of quick access to a major metropolitan area. Residents enjoy a vibrant downtown with local shops, cafes, and restaurants, as well as cultural attractions such as museums, art walks, and seasonal festivals. The area is also known for its proximity to outdoor destinations like Hocking Hills, where hiking, waterfalls, and scenic overlooks provide a relaxing escape just a short drive away. With a reasonable cost of living, quality schools, and family-friendly neighborhoods, Lancaster provides an appealing setting for professionals looking for both career growth and a comfortable lifestyle. The hospital setting offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services, creating a dynamic environment for pharmacists who want to practice at the top of their license. You will join a pharmacy team that is integrated into patient care, working closely with physicians, nurses, and other disciplines to optimize medication therapy and ensure safe, effective use of medications. The culture emphasizes collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement, with support for pharmacists who want to expand their clinical skills and take on new responsibilities. In this role, your day will typically include order verification, pharmacokinetic dosing, therapeutic drug monitoring, and participation in multidisciplinary rounds depending on unit assignment. You will be involved in sterile product preparation, including IV admixtures and, where applicable, hazardous medications, following established safety and quality standards. Pharmacists play a key role in medication reconciliation, patient counseling, and transitions of care, helping to reduce readmissions and improve patient outcomes. The hospital's pharmacy service supports a broad inpatient caseload that may include medical-surgical units, intensive care, emergency services, perioperative areas, and select specialty services depending on current needs. Typical patient ratios are designed to balance workload and safety, with technicians providing support for dispensing, cart fill, and automated dispensing cabinet maintenance. This allows pharmacists to dedicate significant time to clinical and verification activities.Shifts may include a mix of days, evenings, and weekends, with scheduling designed to ensure consistent coverage while supporting work-life balance. Opportunities may exist to rotate through different practice areas, providing exposure to a variety of patient populations and levels of acuity. The hospital continues to invest in technology such as electronic medical records, computerized provider order entry, barcode medication administration, and automated dispensing systems to support safe and efficient workflows. This position is well-suited for pharmacists who value meaningful patient care, enjoy functioning as part of a healthcare team, and want to build a resume with solid hospital experience in a supportive environment. If you would like the job description written in a different style, tone, or level of detail, you can adjust your job description writing preferences at any time by asking, and those preferences will be applied to future descriptions.
