About the Facility - Gallup Indian Medical Center
The Gallup Indian Medical Center is a 99-bed hospital in Gallup, New Mexico, on the border of the Navajo Reservation. Clinical specialties at the GIMC include internal medicine, cardiology, anesthesia, OB/GYN, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, radiology, pathology, pediatrics, psychiatry, emergency medicine, and urology. The workload at Gallup is one of the largest in the Indian Health Service, with 250,000 outpatient encounters and 5800 inpatient admissions annually. GIMC is the largest staff of all the Navajo area facilities.

Pharmacist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to) The Pharmacist verifies prescription orders for completeness, legality, and appropriateness.
Check for potential drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications.
The Pharmacist ensures accurate preparation, labeling, and distribution of medications.
Verify patient understanding and provide supplemental written instructions when necessary.
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and institutional pharmacy regulations.
Provide clear instructions on medication use, potential side effects, and precautions.
Manage pharmaceutical supplies following established protocols.
The Pharmacist assists with order organization and performs patient pill counts at the pharmacy window when necessary.
Pharmacist - REQUIREMENTS Must have a degree from a school of pharmacy approved by a state-accrediting agency.
Must have inpatient and outpatient pharmaceutical experience. minimum of 6 months of prior Indian Health Service pharmacy experience is highly preferred.
Shall possess a current, active, unrestricted license from any of the United States, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia.
