Pharmacy InternSince 1985, BHCHP's mission has been to ensure unconditionally equitable and dignified access to the highest quality health care for all individuals and families experiencing homelessness in greater Boston. Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. We are committed to ensuring that every one of these individuals has access to comprehensive health care, from preventative dental care to cancer treatment. Our clinicians, case managers, and behavioral health professionals work in more than 30 locations to serve some of our community's most vulnerable—and most resilient—citizens. We continue to be committed to building bridges and breaking down barriers, including systemic racism which harms us all. We provide community-based health care services that are compassionate, dignified, and culturally appropriate, incorporating social determinants of health, with the goal of breaking down the physical and systemic barriers that our patients face.Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program is looking to hire a per diem Pharmacy Intern. In this role you will be responsible for helping the Pharmacists perform daily tasks to serve patients. Your duties include filling and labeling prescriptions, interacting with customers to answer questions or give them their prescriptions and contacting customers to notify them when their prescription is ready.Responsibilities:Supports pharmacy services by stocking, preparing, and distributing medications.Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them professionally, answering questions and requests, and referring inquiries to the pharmacist.Maintains pharmacy inventory, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and removing outdated drugs. Ensures separation of 340B drug inventories as applicable.Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.Prepares medications for pharmacist to dispense by interpreting medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, and calculating quantities.Counsels patients under direct pharmacist supervisionPerforms medication reconciliationsQualifications:High School Diploma, GED, or equivalentLicense Required: Pharmacy Student InternState licensure/registrationMust be a Doctor of Pharmacy student enrolled in an accredited college or university, or a graduate of a non-approved school of pharmacy who meets the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy requirements for registration0-1 years related work experience requiredExperience managing multiple competing priorities; excellent prioritization skillsStrong attention to detailExcellent oral, written, and verbal communication skillsSkilled in exercising initiative, judgement, discretion, and decision making to achieve objectivesQuick learner with customer service mindsetExperience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPointDesired Other Skills:Familiarity with 340B programFamiliarity with adherence packaging and home deliveryFamiliarity with the MassHealth ACO programFamiliarity with Federally Qualified Health CentersThe compensation for this position ranges from $22.00 - $23.50 per hour.As an equal opportunity employer, Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program is committed to providing employment opportunities to all qualified individuals and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, marital status, veteran status, pregnancy, parental status, genetic information or characteristics, or any other basis prohibited by applicable law.Covid-19 Vaccination: Proof of Covid-19 vaccination(s) is optional for employment.
