n nWhat Health System Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health

nPharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.

nHealth System Pharmacy is responsible for providing customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality for hospitals, health systems and other integrated healthcare providers may also consult with and advise healthcare team on prescribed medications, supplies and related processes.

nCardinal Health manages Pharmacy Services for PAM Health, a nation-wide leader in providing Long-Term Acute Care (LTACH), Rehabilitation, and Behavioral Health Services. We are seeking a highly motivated pharmacist to lead two LTACH facilities in San Antonio.

nThe manager will hold PIC at the PAM Health Specialty Hospital of San Antonio-South Campus in the Medical Center. This team consists of two pharmacists and two technicians in addition to shared PRN staff.

nPharmacy Hours - Monday through Friday 7:30AM to 4PM, Saturday and Sunday 8AM to 2PM

nJob Summary

nThe Manager, Pharmacy coordinates, directs, manages, facilitates, and oversees the execution and evaluates all administrative and clinical activities. Through the optimization of procedures, this role ensures consistent and efficient delivery to control costs, minimize waste, optimize customer relationships and deliver positive patient outcomes while maintaining compliance with Federal and state regulatory agencies. Along with maintain inventory control and budget, this role is responsible for staffing, monitoring staff activities, performance and achievement of individual and departmental goals.

nResponsibilities

nnnPlans, coordinates, directs and evaluates all clinical activities as delegated by the Director of Pharmacy, including supervision of refilling machines, medical prescriptions database entries and dispatch of medicines.

n

nnPlans, coordinates, directs and evaluates all administrative activities as delegated by the Director of Pharmacy, including scheduling of pharmacy technicians tasks, monitoring process compliance and monthly reporting.

n

nnImplements process and procedures to comply with regulations for medicine handling including reception and storage of medicines, inventory and expenses controls.

n

nnManages day to day activities of the pharmacy technicians and monitors their performance to meet departmental goals.

n

nnIn the absence of medicines, communicates with nursing, doctors and administrative areas to provide alternatives and also makes and/or supervises preparation of interveinal drugs.

n

nnMaintains pharmacist’s certifications and maintenance of database privileges and access controls to medical records.

n

nnProvides pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist.

n

nnAssesses and maintains pharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, including reviews, to maintain optimal supply and ongoing availability of drugs, identifying and procuring alternative drugs to mitigate risks, when necessary.

nnLeads processes for hiring of pharmacy staff, onboarding, and performance management, including leadership of competency evaluations process and documentation.

nnManages internal workflows of acute pharmacy, including optimization of staffing and scheduling to maintain best-in-class and streamlined pharmacy operations.

n

nnParticipates in meetings and provides insight to hospital committees to ensure coordination among cross-functional groups.

n

nnAssists in execution of plans for lowering costs, increasing efficiency and driving profitable growth to support strategic business objectives in the acute pharmacy business.

n

nnAssumes responsibility for Quality Assurance monitoring and completing End of the Month reports as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.

n nQualifications

nnnBachelors degree in pharmacy or PharmD.

n

nnMust be a “good standing” licensed Pharmacist and/or eligible for licensure in the state of Texas.

n

nnIV certified or ability to obtain certification.

n

nnHospital/Inpatient experience highly preferred.

n

nnPharmacist in charge or pharmacy management experience highly preferred.

n

nnAbility to develop, implement and lead all aspects of pharmacy operation.

n

nnAbility to see, hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals.

n

nnExcellent planning, organizing and leadership skills.

n

nnStrong customer orientation and negotiation skills.

n

nnPressure to perform in emergency situations.

n

nnOverall decision making responsibility.

n

nnAbility to work on call or be in an on call rotation.

n

nnAbility to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds

n

nnAbility to bend, reach, stoop, lift and stand for entire shift.

n nAnticipated salary range: $111,500 - $175,340.
