nPHARMACY OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR

nBOISE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER

nSUMMARY:

nIn collaboration with the SAHS Regional Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for the oversight, organization, and administration of pharmacy services hospital wide, as well as working “collaboratively” with MedNow Pharmacies. Must apply principles of leadership, human relations, and continuous quality improvement in the overall coordination, supervision, development, and refinement of the pharmaceutical services.

nREQUIREMENTS:

nnnLicensure as a registered pharmacist by the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy.

n

nnGraduation from an ASHP-accredited hospital residency with an advanced degree in pharmacy preferred –or equivalent qualification obtained through administrative experience.

n

nnMembership in the ASHP or other professional memberships preferred.

n

nnCertification through ASHRM Training Program preferred.

n

nnTwo to five years of hospital pharmacist experience required.

n

nnTwo years of relevant administrative experience required.

n

n nHOURS: The Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center. The pharmacy functions 24/7. The supervisor will work predominantly day shifts, but must flex and be available to support evening, weekend and night shift colleagues and needs.

nWHAT YOU WILL DO :

nnnKnows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

n

nnEstablish medication management workflows.

n

nnAccountable for the leadership and mentorship of pharmacists and technicians.

n

nnSuccessfully executes the established plans and the services of the functional areas of responsibility through analysis, measurement and monitoring, reporting, and adjusting the direction, allocation and utilization of available resources.

n

nnUtilizes an effective mix of research, analysis, expert opinion, and committee group process to develop and lead a comprehensive Pharmacy Service.

n

nnDevelops and implements policies and procedures to support the patient care needs of a regional health care organization.

n

nnFormulates and disseminates administrative plans and present therapeutic alternatives to physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and pharmacy assistants. Demonstrates knowledge of corporate or institutional insurance programs.

n

nnDemonstrates knowledge of regulatory codes, legal requirements, and healthcare law.

n

nnDemonstrates knowledge of loss control engineering and claims administration.

n

nnKnowledge of budgets and inventory controls.

n

nnDemonstrated skill in planning, implementing and evaluating programs.

n

nnAdditional knowledge in current pharmaceutical technology including distribution, protocol design, monitoring and intervention.

n

nnExcellent verbal and written communication skills are needed to direct daily operations, as well as to communicate with a variety of clinical and ancillary departments. Clerical ability is necessary to prepare reports, records, and charts.

n

nnAbility to interface with physicians, patients, and all levels of hospital personnel.
