Job description
Job Summary:
nFully engages in this 12-month, postgraduate structured training program that provides an intensive focus on enhancing knowledge, skills, and abilities in patient care and practice management for community pharmacy practice. Participates in a range of activities that facilitate leadership and teaching skills development. Responsible for providing direct patient care in the community pharmacy practice environment. Assists, with the coordination of an in-store pharmacist, managed patient care clinic that promotes health and wellness through appropriate drug therapy use.

nPatient Experience
nnnResponsible for managing patient interactions in the pharmacy, including patient counseling and resolving patient issues promptly to ensure a positive patient experience.
n
nnModels and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and joyful experience, including interpersonal habits that show care (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., demonstrating curiosity to identify needs and proactively helping, servicing until satisfied, championing empathy and inclusivity.).

n nOperations
nnnMaintains responsibility for the operations of the pharmacy department in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager, as delegated by the Pharmacy Manager.
n
nnImproves prescription numbers, store sales, profit, and image through the accurate filling of prescriptions, providing valued added pharmacy service, and providing courteous, professional, and efficient service to patients.
n
nnAdheres to federal and state laws and regulations and Company policies governing all drugs and products; maintains required records, documentation, and reports. Reviews and complies with the Walgreen Co. pharmacy code of conduct.
n
nnAssists with adherence to guidelines concerning the receipt, storage, shipment, and dispensing of controlled drugs; reviews and complies with the controlled substance policy statement. Adheres to the guidelines of the Walgreen Company's pharmacy laws and ethics statement

nnDesigns, executes, and presents an investigational project issue related to community pharmacy practice.
n
nnAssists in preparing and managing department workflow and daily tasks.
n
nnAssists in or makes recommendations concerning the supervision of all pharmacy department employees to ensure performance of required functions and adherence to Company policies and procedures.
n
nnAssist with ensuring proper processing of all third-party prescriptions, adhere to partial fill procedures, and utilize generics whenever possible to maximize the gross profitability of the store.
n
nnMaintains current knowledge of information technology associated with pharmacy systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, training, inventory management, and point-of-sale registers to provide support to patients as well as pharmacy staff. Seeks new and better ways to further promote productivity.
n
nnResponsible for assuring that pharmacy department procedures and practices comply with federal and state regulations and guidelines. Requires travel to meetings throughout the year.

n nPeople & Performance Management
nnnAssists with staff development activities and training for Walgreens' pharmacists.
n
nnPromotes teamwork and motivates team members by establishing expectations, monitors and recognizes progress, and fosters a shared vision.
n
n nTraining & Personal Development
nnnMaintains current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications. Maintains awareness of developments in retail and management and pursues best practices that would enhance performance.
n
nnCompletes required residency program documentation (i.e., evaluations, needs assessments, etc.) to facilitate training in learning experiences.
n
nnSeeks professional development by monitoring 'one's performance, solicits constructive feedback, and leverages pharmacy manager and store manager as mentor and coach.
n
n nCommunications
nnSupports the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or strategy information to pharmacy staff

nBasic Qualifications
nnnDoctor of Pharmacy degree from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
n
nnAbility to obtain a pharmacist license, within the state of residency, within 90 days of the start of the residency program.
n
nnIndividuals must participate in and adhere to the ASHP Resident Matching Program rules.
n
n nPreferred Qualifications
