Job description

Phlebotomist

Full-Time - Evening Shift

1-9pm or 3p-11pm

Job Summary:

Obtains proper blood specimens from patients in the hospital

Prepares all specimens to reference laboratories

Collects appropriate control specimens as requested

Assists technologists and other personnel as time and training permits

Performs related clerical, billing and charting responsibilities

Identifies age specific phlebotomy needs of patients and implements appropriate procedures and processes

Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent

Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience, preferably in a hospital setting

Previous exposure to Emergency Room and trauma situations.

Basic medical terminology

Understanding of medical ethics and handling of confidential information. Formal or on-the-job blood collection techniques.

Odessa Regional Medical Center was founded in 1975 as Odessa Women's and Children's Hospital. Through the years, the hospital grew and evolved into a full-service healthcare facility and the name was changed to Odessa Regional Medical Center to reflect its larger campus and more comprehensive services. The hospital has 225 beds and has approximately 250 physicians on staff and has over 700 employees.

Today, ORMC offers a wide spectrum of healthcare services, including advanced diagnostic imaging technology, emergency care, innovative surgical procedures, maternity care, comprehensive cardiac services and general medical care.
