Phlebotomist I
Location: Plantation, FL Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension) Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 1:30 PM, and every Saturday, 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Phlebotomist I to join our team in Plantation, FL. The Phlebotomist I serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care while collecting high-quality blood specimens for laboratory testing. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Collect blood specimens from patients accurately, safely, and efficiently.
Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing according to established procedures.
Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties.
Verify patient information and maintain accurate records and documentation.
Explain collection procedures to patients and address questions to ensure a positive experience.
Adhere to all company policies, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements.
Maintain a professional and welcoming environment for patients, clients, and staff.
Complete all assigned tasks accurately and within designated timelines.
Demonstrate organizational commitment and uphold a positive company image.
Work independently while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
Phlebotomy Certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
Experience
Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
Experience with pediatric and geriatric blood draws preferred.
Customer service experience in a retail, healthcare, or service environment preferred.
Keyboard and data entry experience required.
Required Skills
Strong specimen collection and venipuncture skills.
Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and patient interaction skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Flexibility to accommodate staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call schedules as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a clinical laboratory or patient service center.
Previous experience processing laboratory specimens.
Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
Working Conditions
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and specimen handling.
Direct interaction with patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
Fast-paced healthcare environment requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
