Job description

Phlebotomy TechnicianJoin our team at Mass General Brigham (MGB) and kickstart your journey with a $3,000 sign-on bonus! It's our way of saying welcome - and showing how much we value the talent you bring. Summary Responsible for collecting and processing blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing. Operates with a moderate level of supervision, identifying and resolving common issues independently. Provide effective training and education to new employees and students as assigned.Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions-Obtains quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods for all age groups. -Ensures accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, processing, handling, and transportation of specimens. -May assist in the recovery of patients experiencing adverse reactions and provide a rapid response to medical emergencies in the inpatient setting. -Communicates effectively with patients and patient care teams, explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. -Troubleshoots and resolves specimen, order, and common operational issues within the work area. -Provides some training and education to new staff and students. -Handles sharps and biohazardous materials in accordance with regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of patients and staff. -Works fluently with computer programs and systems, and complies with HIPAA regulations. -Performs other tests, administration, and specimen collection as assigned.QualificationsEducation High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree?
