Job description
Phlebotomist (Middletown)The Phlebotomist provides expertise in blood draws and specimen preparation. Their ability to put patients at ease and obtain sufficient samples with minimal discomfort to patients across a wide demographic is critical to our commitment to high quality care for our patients and those of our partners.ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection clearly and courteously.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Understand and comply with all physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store sample specimens according to required temperatures.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Essential Skills2-3 years of experience in blood drawing.Proficiency in phlebotomy, including pediatric and infant draws.Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.Additional Skills & QualificationsBilingual preferred.Work EnvironmentThis role offers the opportunity to travel within the state, providing a change of scenery for candidates who enjoy it. The work schedule includes Monday 9am-5pm, Tuesday 10am-7pm, Wednesday 9am-5pm, Thursday 9:30am-7pm, Friday 9am-5pm, and every 1st and 3rd Saturday from 8:30am-4:30pm. Appropriate attire is required.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, NY.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
