Job Title: Phlebotomist

Location: Mt. Pleasant, MI (Onsite)

Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time / Contract

Shift: Day / Evening / Rotational

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team in Mt. Pleasant, MI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurate blood specimen collection, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent patient interaction skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for patients of all age groups

Accurately label, process, and handle specimens for laboratory testing

Verify patient identity and maintain precise documentation

Ensure patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality during procedures

Follow infection control and OSHA safety protocols

Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and equipment

Transport specimens following established guidelines

Assist with patient intake and basic administrative tasks as needed

Deliver excellent customer service and patient care

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy training program

1-5+ years of phlebotomy experience (required)

Strong knowledge of venipuncture techniques and specimen handling

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Preferred Certifications:

Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Skills & Competencies:

High attention to detail and accuracy

Strong patient care mindset with empathy

Knowledge of medical terminology

Ability to handle difficult draws and anxious patients

Strong time management and multitasking abilities

Work Environment:

Hospitals, clinics, diagnostic labs, or outpatient facilities

Requires standing for extended periods

Exposure to bloodborne pathogens (with proper safety protocols in place)

Nice-to-Have:

Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

Pediatric or geriatric phlebotomy experience

Experience in multi-site or mobile phlebotomy
