PhlebotomistWe are seeking a skilled and dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team in the surrounding Houston area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drawing blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing while ensuring patient comfort and safety. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and adherence to all safety protocols.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform venipunctures and capillary punctures on patients of all ages.Prepare patients for blood draws by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring their comfort.Label specimens accurately according to established protocols.Maintain proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.Ensure that all equipment is clean, properly maintained, and stored securely after use.Adhere strictly to infection control procedures and safety guidelines.Assist with the transportation of specimens to the laboratory as needed.Collaborate with healthcare professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team.QualificationsEducation:High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred.Certification:National certification as a Phlebotomist (e.g., ASCP, NHA) is preferred but not mandatory at the time of hire; must be obtained within (specified time period) after hire if not already certified.Experience:Prior experience in phlebotomy or related healthcare position preferred but not required for entry-level candidates.Skills:Strong communication skills—ability to explain procedures clearly to patients.Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.Ability to handle difficult situations calmly while maintaining professionalism.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand for long periods; perform repetitive motions associated with blood draws (e.g., arm extension).May require lifting or moving heavy equipment occasionally.Additional RequirementsBackground Check: Must pass background check prior to employment.Immunizations: Proof of necessary immunizations (Hepatitis B vaccination series) may be required based on facility policy.
