Position: Laboratory Technician I
Shift: Night 5x8-Hour (20:00 - 04:30)
Location: California
Weekend Requirements: Every other Weekend
Job Description
The Laboratory Technician I operates under the general direction of the Laboratory Manager and designated personnel while fulfilling the following primary responsibilities:
Collection and preparation of blood samples.
Accurate identification of patients and specimens.
Transportation and handling of specimens.
Performance of related clerical functions.
Processing specimens according to laboratory policies.
Completion of special projects as assigned.
Certification Requirements California State CPTI-Certified Phlebotomy Technician I
Job Skills Aseptic Technique
Blood collection methods (Syringe method, Vacutainer method)
Blood culture techniques
Data entry and charting systems (Preferred experience with Community Hospital)
Medical records review
Patient education on proper collection and preservation of laboratory specimens
Quality assurance and controls
Proper disposal and labeling of specimens
Patient Care Details
Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Infants, Adults, Pediatrics, Geriatrics
Experience Requirements Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
Experience with patient ratios in a clinical setting.
Compliance and Onboarding Must complete required laboratory tasks within 3-5 days of contract signing.
7-Year Work History Verification is required for all candidates.
Additional Information Orientation hours are provided for new employees.
Modules are included during training, factoring into the overall hours of non-billable orientation.
