Phlebotomist OpportunityThe Phlebotomist is responsible for collection of blood specimens, performing laboratory office duties, or processing laboratory specimens. Laboratory office registering patients, accurately and completely entering all necessary data into the computer system, specimen accessioning, answering telephone calls, and processing paperwork. Specimen processing duties will include preparation of specimens for testing and/or for sending to the central laboratory or to a reference laboratory. In addition to handling blood, body fluid and urine specimens according to established procedures, they may also perform limited waived and specified non-waived POC tests as authorized by the Laboratory Director.This opportunity is 5am-1:30pm. New grads welcome.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCollects patient samplesInforms patient of collection procedures (to collect non-blood specimens)Identifies patient using two unique identifiersCollects patient samples using age/sample-appropriate collection technique and collection container.Assures specimen adequacyProvides post-phlebotomy care and instructions.Performs waived/moderate complexity testing as authorized by the director.Labels specimens ensuring correctPatient labelLabel orientation on specimenWrites date/time and initials on labelCarries specimens to designated laboratory areaOperates pneumatic tube, as requiredPerforms Laboratory Office DutiesCommunity First Medical Center offers benefits to all its Registry employees: Career growth | Free Parking Garage | Possibility of more hours if available.RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED equivalentPrevious Phlebotomy experience and/or training is requiredBackground in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology is preferredPhlebotomy certification from ASPT, NCA, ASCP or equivalent preferredCommunity First Medical Center is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer who is committed to cultivating diversity, equity and inclusion within all aspects of our organizations.
