If you're detail-oriented, passionate about public service, and ready to make an impact, apply today!Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:Collect blood, breath, and urine specimens from adults and juveniles.Distribute specimens to appropriate laboratories or facilities for testing or storage.Maintain inventory control and ensure supplies are stocked and ready for use.Perform clerical tasks such as word processing, filing, and maintaining departmental records.Follow quality control procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.Provide expert witness testimony in legal proceedings when necessary.Book evidence and maintain accurate records of lab tests and confidential information.Adhere to safety procedures and OSHA standards for processing and transporting bodily fluids.Maintain a clean, sterile environment and ensure specimens security during the collection process.Perform related duties as assigned.Duties and schedules may vary by assignment, please inquire about specific duties and/or schedules if called upon for an interview. Incumbents may be required to work any shift; nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.The salary listed is for full-time positions; actual pay is based on the hourly rate and will depend on the number of hours worked. Temporary employees do not participate in the City's pension system and are not eligible for City-sponsored benefits.The current temporary vacancy exists in the Traffic Bureau Division of the Fresno Police Department.Full job specification may be viewed at: (Download PDF reader)View "We Work For You" video to get an inside look at how rewarding it is to work for the City of Fresno: must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to be placed in the qualified pool of candidates:Possession of a high school diploma or GEDANDOne (1) year of full-time paid experience as a Phlebotomist in an in-patient or out-patient setting.Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician by the California State Department of Health Services is required at the time of appointment.Applicants who already possess the certificate at the time of application may attach a copy to their application.The work experience section MUST be completed with detailed duties, dates and weekly hours worked for each title held. Please SPECIFY THE PHLEBOTOMIST DUTIES with which you have experience on your application. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of a completed employment application and will not be used to evaluate minimum requirements. Applications lacking a completed work experience section may be rejected.Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required at time of appointment. Candidates considered for hire will be required to provide proof of a valid driver's license and current copy of their driving record.The selected eligible candidates certified will be required to successfully pass a department interview, an extensive background investigation including Computer Voice Stress Analyzer (CVSA) and/or polygraph test, and a Department of Justice fingerprint prior to employment with the City of Fresno.Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications may be referred to the hiring department for further consideration. No competitive examination process will be conducted for this temporary position.
