Performs a number of clerical duties as assigned. Ability to register patients into the HIS.EEO/AA/Disability/VeteranResponsibilitiesPhlebotomyUses proper patient identification and specimen labeling procedures according to Laboratory policyAccessioning and receiving specimensAccurately and timely receives specimens into the laboratoryCustomer serviceUses AIDET principles when performing phlebotomy and demonstrates concerns for patient comfort and privacyPeopleInteracts professionally with all members of the hospital staffProblem solvingReviews patient vouchers and registrations for accuracy and corrects them as indicatedInvestigate and document problems with unacceptable specimensAccurately orders tests in the hospital and laboratory computer systemsRegulation complianceComplies with established laboratory and hospital policies for universal precautions and safetyOther dutiesResponsible for cleanliness of courier vehicle if applicableQualificationsHigh school graduate or GEDPrior experience in phlebotomyCertified or certified eligible with National Phlebotomy Association preferred. Must have a current driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
