PhlebotomistShift's Available: Variable (Days, Evenings, Nights)Employment Type: Per Diem (As Needed)Hours: 8-hour shiftsLocation: Harlingen Medical Center - Harlingen, TexasResponsibilitiesPrepare patients for blood draws, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the processResponsible for correct blood collection, draw blood from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other techniques; ensure proper identification and labeling of specimensOrganize, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing, ensure all specimens are properly processed and storedAdhere to quality control and safety protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens and ensure accurate test resultsMaintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensure everything is in working order and properly sanitizedPerform more complex or specialized phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervisionQualifications1. High School Diploma, or equivalent, required. 2. BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained current, required. 3.
