Job DescriptionA well-established outpatient medical practice specializing in musculoskeletal and rehabilitation medicine is seeking a part-time Physiatrist to join their team in the Bergen County, NJ area. This role focuses on helping patients recover function, reduce pain, and improve overall quality of life following injury or illness.
\ N Position Highlights:
\ N Schedule: 2 days per week
\ N Setting: 100% outpatient — primarily musculoskeletal care and EMGs
\ N Compensation: $120–$160/hour
\ N Open to new graduates/residents
\ N Responsibilities:
\ N Evaluate and diagnose patients with physical impairments, pain, or functional limitations resulting from injuries, neurological conditions, or chronic illness.
\ N Develop and oversee individualized rehabilitation and treatment plans tailored to each patient’s goals.
\ N Perform and interpret electrodiagnostic studies (EMGs) and other diagnostic assessments.
\ N Administer therapeutic and diagnostic injections (including ESI and spinal procedures, if trained).
\ N Prescribe medications and other interventions to manage pain and improve physical function.
\ N Educate patients on proper exercise, posture, and lifestyle habits to support recovery and prevent reinjury.
\ N Communicate and coordinate care plans with referring providers, specialists, and other members of the care team.
\ N Maintain detailed and compliant documentation of evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes.
\ N Track patient outcomes and adjust plans as needed to maximize improvement and satisfaction.
\ N Discuss a range of treatment options openly with patients to ensure a collaborative and well-informed care process.
\ N Qualifications:
\ N Board Certified or Board Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)
\ N Experience in outpatient musculoskeletal medicine preferred
\ N EMG proficiency required
\ N Trained in spinal or joint injections preferred, but not mandatory
\ N Excellent communication, documentation, and patient relationship skills
