Medical Director - Acute Rehabilitation Opportunity in Lewiston, MESeeking an MD or DO to provide clinical and administrative leadership for an inpatient acute rehabilitation programFull-time leadership role within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation settingBlend of clinical care and program oversight with structured administrative timeOpportunity to shape program growth, quality initiatives, and operational strategyCollaborative environment with strong interdisciplinary rehab team supportClinical & Leadership ResponsibilitiesProvide medical leadership and oversight of the acute rehabilitation unitDeliver direct patient care including admissions, ongoing management, and discharge planningLead interdisciplinary team conferences to coordinate rehabilitation care plansDevelop and implement clinical protocols, care pathways, and quality improvement initiativesEnsure compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory standardsMonitor key performance metrics including length of stay, functional outcomes, and readmissionsOversee utilization management and documentation accuracyCollaborate with hospital leadership on program growth and operational efficiencyRecruit, mentor, and supervise physicians and advanced practice providersSchedule & ExpectationsMaintain active clinical involvement in the inpatient rehabilitation unitApproximately three weeks per month dedicated to clinical coverageOne week per month reserved for administrative and leadership dutiesParticipate in call coverage as requiredRequirementsMD or DO from an accredited medical schoolBoard Certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation preferredActive or eligible Maine medical license3-5 years of inpatient rehabilitation experience preferredPrior leadership experience strongly preferredFamiliarity with IRF-PAI, CMS guidelines, and inpatient rehab modelsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary plus medical director stipendPerformance-based incentives tied to quality and growth metricsSign-on bonus and relocation assistance availableComprehensive health, dental, vision, and retirement benefitsCME allowance and professional development supportCommunity HighlightsScenic Maine location with access to lakes, mountains, hiking, skiing, and coastal areasAffordable cost of living and strong community atmosphereEasy access to Portland and broader New England region
