nPhysical Therapy Assistant Wanted at the Vassar Hospital - PR 20 hours
nMonday and Friday and Tuesday :30. 2 weekend days a month. Flex Schedule.
nThis position requires a 2 year associates degree in physical therapy assistant AND New York State licensing.
nSummary:
nProvides direct patient care to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and assists the Physical Therapist in executing described care plans. Provides clinical instruction to Physical Therapy Assistant students. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to the age of the patient served by the patient care department.
nResponsibilities:
nnnProvides direct patient care services to ensure the effectiveness of Physical Therapy programs.
n
nnHandles an assigned patient caseload providing appropriate treatment as required.
n
nnAssists as needed, the attendant Physical Therapist in re-evaluating patient status, and in the progression of patient programming.
n
nnPrioritizes, independently, caseload and available treatment times to provide for maximum efficiency.
n
nnUtilizes correct modalities of treatment and suggests variation to written protocol if applicable.
n
nnRecognizes contraindications to continuing with scheduled treatment and consults with the responsible therapist as needed.
n
nnDemonstrates knowledge of Physical Therapy procedures and equipment providing for safety and maximum patient benefit.
n
nnPerforms appropriate documentation to maintain the departmental standard.
n
nnParticipates in communication with other involved hospital personnel to provide for progressive and cost-efficient hospital program.
n
nnPerforms other duties as needed to improve the overall effectiveness of the department as both a treatment facility and an educational environment.
n
nnPromotes a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to hospital and department policies and procedures.
n
nnDemonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, family members, visitors and hospital personnel as defined in the philosophy of VBMC.

nnDemonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
n
n nEducation: Requires two (2) years of college. General knowledge of a specialized or technical field normally associated with an A.A or A.S. degree.
nExperience: Practically no prior experience required. Could rely on education and knowledge required for employment. Three to six months required for learning period
nLicense: Valid New York State License or eligibility with temporary permitWorking Conditions:
nManual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
nOccupational: Some occupational risk
nPhysical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
nPhysical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
