Job Description

A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) at our facility provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, assisting patients in rehabilitation and helping them achieve functional goals.

Key Responsibilities

PTAs work closely with Physical Therapists to deliver high-quality musculoskeletal care. Their primary duties include:

Assisting patients with exercises, stretches, and therapeutic activities to improve mobility, strength, and function.

Using devices such as walkers or braces to support patient movement and reduce pain.

Observing and documenting patient progress, reporting findings to the supervising Physical Therapist.

Educating patients and families on home exercise programs, wellness strategies, and post-treatment care.

Preparing and maintaining therapy equipment and treatment areas, ensuring cleanliness and safety.

Supporting patient transfers and mobility within the clinic or rehabilitation environment.

Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.

Work Environment

PTAs typically work in outpatient clinics, sports medicine facilities, or rehabilitation centers. They may interact with a diverse patient population, including athletes, seniors, and individuals recovering from orthopedic, neurologic, or medical conditions. The role requires a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a focus on patient-centered care.

Qualifications Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.

Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a PTA in the state of employment.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients, families, and colleagues.

Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and work collaboratively in a clinical setting.

Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to health and safety regulations.

Professional Development and Culture

We emphasize professional growth and mentorship, providing resources, tools, and training to support PTAs in delivering excellent patient outcomes. The organization fosters a collaborative and supportive culture, encouraging PTAs to develop their clinical skills while contributing to a positive patient experience.

Summary

A PTA plays a critical role in patient rehabilitation, assisting Physical Therapists in delivering care, monitoring progress, and educating patients.
